- Today, the grade 4's were going to start their 3D provincial maps of Ontario. I introduced this idea to the grade 4 students on Monday. On Wednesday, students had an entire period to work on brainstorming different materials to bring into school to use on their maps. We studied the three regions of Ontario, and spent a lot of time brainstorming household objects or items from the outdoors students could bring in to put on their maps. Today, in the morning I asked students what they brought as I was excited to hear about all the wonderful creations that would be ahead of us. I believe between 15 students there was a total of 4 rocks, a bag of topsoil, a few sticks and some sandpaper. Needless to say the majority of students brought nothing in and were unprepared. I hope next Friday students come prepared, as their maps will be very simple without anything to put on them.
