Using the APE Strategy
The APE strategy is a form of answering questions that we've practiced in class. We read aloud a book called Trouble Talk. This book was about a girl that had a case of 'trouble talk' that hurt the girl's and boys around her. We started a practice response on this book. Below, you will find an outline of what we used to complete our APE entry
Using the A.P.E. Strategy to Practice Appetizer #3 for Our RRJ Entry
A - Answer the question directly.
- This book is about a group of girls named Keisha, Maya, Bailey and Hua. One of the main characters is named Maya, and she has a case of 'trouble talk'
P - Prove your answer
- In this section try and use specific examples, specific character names and quotes when possible to PROVE that Bailey has a case of 'trouble talk'
- Try and use as many specific examples you can to support her having 'trouble talk'
E - Expand on Your Answer
Here, you can do two things:
1) You can make a connection to Bailey's trouble talk
2) You can explain how Bailey changed by the end of the book
